Outlier 2026 Policy Guidance 

The Data Visualization Society (DVS) is committed to respecting your privacy and using your information responsibly.

Data Use & Privacy Statement

We collect and use participant information to manage event planning, metrics, and analytics. We use anonymized and aggregated data to improve future events and report on overall participation trends.

Data Sharing

Your personal information will only be accessible to authorized DVS organizers related to planning and running the conference. We do not share personal data beyond DVS, except as required to operate the event through our platform provider, vFairs, in accordance with their privacy policy.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

We accept returns and exchanges up to 2 weeks out from the event start date. 
All cancellations received on or before Tuesday, June 9, 2026, are entitled to a refund, minus processing fees. No refunds will be given after Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Regrettably, cancellations received after that date cannot be honored. 
The Outlier Committee recognizes that sometimes last-minute cancellations can’t be avoided. However, the conference incurs expenses for which it is liable based on the number of registrations. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to outlier@datavisualizationsociety.org.  

Substitution Policy

Registrations are transferable if you are unable to attend; however, in general, the Outlier Committee cannot assist in finding an appropriate replacement. Substitutions for paid registrants may be made up until Monday, June 22, 2026, with written notice to outlier@datavisualizationsociety.org. 

Discounts & Promotions

Early registration deadline is extended through Friday, May 8, 2026

A new discount request process and more options are available for the 2026 programming. We are offering different discounts and pricing including student, early-career, government, non-profit, NGOs, group rates, and by the country of your current home address, as well as other cost barriers. 

See the list of countries in each category at the end of this page for discount categorizations. Note: the program is fully virtual.  

Discounts do not apply to the pre-conference add-on, however, if cost is a barrier, reach out through the discount form located on the registration home page with more details.
